Our commitment to transparency.
"We use certified downstream recyclers" doesn't tell you what happens to your data. We'd rather show you the actual process and tell you exactly what happens to your devices that contain sensitive information.
What documentation you get, by service
Documentation isn't an add-on you have to request it's built into what each service already includes.

The questions you should be able to ask:
Does my drive/device get wiped in-house, or does it leave the building first?
Every drive/device is wiped in-house. If it fails wiping/cannot be wiped, it is physically destroyed before being sent to an R2 certified recyler.
What happens if a drive fails testing?
It's crunched in a hydraulic press on-site, rendering it completely unusable. The destroyed drives are then sent to an R2 Certified recycler.
What does "wiped" actually mean?
A secure erase to D.O.D.-level standards, followed by a verification sweep confirming the wipe completed successfully.
What about phones and tablets that won't turn on?
If a device can't be powered on to verify a wipe, it's physically destroyed. Phones and tablets are then sent to an R2 Certified recycler.
Can I get records tied to specific serial numbers?
Yes, for paid destruction services. Free business pickups include a weight receipt; itemized per-serial logs are available with our shredding services.
What we mean when we say "in-house"
No subcontracted wiping
Wiping and physical destruction are performed by GTS, at our facility, not outsourced to a downstream vendor.
No shipping un-wiped devices
A device is never sent anywhere including to a downstream recycler before it has been wiped or physically destroyed.
Consistent process, every device
The same testing, wiping, and destruction standard applies whether it's one drive or a full office pickup.
